Track food and adjust without overreacting
Turn calculator estimates into a target that reflects your real life.
The short answer
Follow the estimate consistently, compare at least two weeks of average body weight and change only 100-200 calories when the trend is clearly wrong.
How to track without making it a second job
Use a food-tracking app, a kitchen scale for uncertain portions and the same entries for meals you repeat. Accuracy will never be perfect. Consistency makes the error useful because the scale trend can calibrate it.
- Enter food before or soon after eating it.
- Track oils, drinks and snacks that are easy to forget.
- Aim to be reasonably close, not perfectly exact.
Use three indicators
Average body weight shows direction, monthly photographs show visible change and the logbook shows whether training performance is improving. Change one variable at a time and hold it long enough to observe the result.
Remember: The calculator is a hypothesis. Your trend is the calibration.
